This Bonds REU site combines the research strengths of the chemistry and chemical engineering disciplines in a synergistic relationship. Participants will gain experience, techniques, and perspectives from both fields. This unique undergraduate summer program provides a no risk, exciting and interactive research experience for students considering research careers.
Research Teams featured for 2007 are Biotechnology & Bioanalytical Applications and Nanomaterials & Structural Studies. Learn more about research projects and faculty mentors here. Participants will present at a campus-wide symposium on August 3rd and are encouraged to present at regional meetings, such as those of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Travel funds may be available.
Participants thrive through close mentoring relationships with graduate students and faculty. Professional development and research skills training is interspersed with laboratory research, site visits of chemical plants and national research labs, social activities, interactive workshops in diversity and research ethics, and an end-summer symposium. Join us for a learning experience you’ll never forget!
