Constitution for the Society for the Advancement
of Creation Science
ARTICLE I Name
The name of this organization shall be the Society for the
Advancement of Creation Science.
ARTICLE II Purpose
The primary purpose of this organization shall be to stimulate
interest in creation science. The group shall provide a
forum for discussion to promote awareness concerning creation
research.
ARTICLE III LOCATION AND GOVERNMENT
A. The location of this organization shall be on the campus
of Mississippi State University.
B. This organization shall be governed by this constitution.
ARTICLE IV MEMBERSHIP
- Membership categories shall be the following (membership
or inactive members).
- Active or full membership shall be composed entirely of
faculty, students, and staff of Mississippi State University.
- Inactive membership shall be composed of alumni and honorary
members. Inactive members may not be allowed to vote or hold
office.
- Qualifications for membership
- Any M.S.U. student, faculty, or staff who is interested
in creation research shall be eligible for membership.
ARTICLE V OFFICERS
- All executive powers of the S.A.C.S. shall be vested in a
President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer. These
officers shall be elected in the fall semester by a majority
of a quorum, which includes student members and advisors.
- Duties and Powers of Officers:
- President
- Shall be the main contact person in relations with
the University
- Shall meet regularly with the advisor and report
to the membership
- Shall administer meetings and appoint sub-committees
and their chairs
- Must have previously held an office in the organization.
- Vice-President
- To assist the president in the execution of the
president's office
- To assume the duties of the president in the
president's absence
- Secretary/Treasurer
- To take and preserve accurate minutes of meetings
- To conduct all correspondence and handle club
announcements
- To maintain accurate fiscal records
- To transact any and all monetary exchanges
concerning the club
- The advisor of the S.A.C.S. shall be a member of the faculty
or staff at Mississippi State University
- The advisor will be a full member of the club and
will have all rights accorded club members,
including a vote
- The faculty advisor will be elected yearly by majority
vote of the active membership, in the Fall Semester
- The faculty advisor must co-sign all checks
ARTICLE VI MEETINGS
- Meetings will be conducted according to Roberts Rules of Order
- If there is a called meeting, the members will be notified at
least one week prior to that meeting through a written,
verbal, or electronic mail notice
- Procedures for calling a meeting:
- The president and/or the faculty advisor will notify
the club secretary/treasurer of the need for a meeting
- The club secretary/treasurer will inform the membership
through a written or verbal notice of the time, place,
and nature of the meeting
ARTICLE VII DUES AND ASSESSMENTS
- The S.A.C.S. shall not require dues
- All financial transactions must be signed by the
faculty/staff and the secretary/treasurer
ARTICLE VIII
AMENDING PROCEDURE
- Amendments to the constitution shall be proposed in writing
at least five days prior to the time they are to be voted
upon
- Adoption of amendments shall be by 3/4 vote of either the
total membership or of those voting
ARTICLE IX
REVISION
- Revision of the constitution shall be undertaken only
if a motion or revision is approved by a 3/4 vote of the
membership present and voting
- If such a revisiion is approved, it shall be undertaken
by a committee appointed by the S.A.C.S. The president
shall appoint one member to serve as Chairperson fo the
Revision Committee
- The revision of this constitution shall be by ballot
and shall require 3/4 vote of the members present and voting
ARTICLE X
NON-DISCRIMINATION
- The S.A.C.S. does not discriminate on the basis of race,
color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability,
or veteran status.
