Constitution

ARTICLE I
NAME

The name of this organization shall be Mississippi State University Women's Club Soccer Association.

ARTICLE II
PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this organization shall be to give women at Mississippi State University the opportunity to play soccer; to promote leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and sportsmanship; and to maintain lifelong fitness habits.

ARTICLE III
LOCATION AND GOVERNMENT

A. The location of this organization shall be Mississippi State University.

B. This organization shall be governed by this Constitution.

ARTICLE IV
MEMBERSHIP

A. Membership categories shall be the following (membership or inactive members.
1. Active or full membership shall be composed entirely of faculty, students, and staff.
2. Inactive membership shall be composed of alumni and honorary members; however, inactive members may not be allowed to vote or hold office.

B. Qualifications for membership include:
1. Members must be a MSU student, staff, or faculty.
2. Members must be in good standing with Mississippi State University.

C. Membership selection procedure will be based on a try out procedure. Prospective members will compete in various drills and scrimmages. A selection committee will vote on which prospective members will be granted membership. The selection committee will be composed of the President, Vice-President, coach, and team captain from the previous semester, if available.

ARTICLE V
OFFICERS

A. All executive powers of the Mississippi State University Womenıs Club Soccer Association shall be vested in a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Financial Officer. These officers shall be elected in the fall semester and shall serve a term of one year.

B. Duties and Powers of Officers:

1. Duties and powers of the President
a. conduct meetings
b. conduct election proceedings for the following year
c. organize club activities
d. notify members of called special meetings
e. make sure club is represented at appropriate meetings
f. assist in membership selection process

2. Duties and powers of the Vice-President
a. assist president in any area appointed
b. develop alumni lists of club sport participants
c. develop relations in public community as well as campus community.
d. assist in membership selection process

3. Duties and Powers of the Secretary
a. keep minutes of all meetings
b. collect appropriate paperwork
c. complete monthly paperwork for Council (as needed)

4. Duties and Powers of the Financial Officer
a. prepare budgets for club
b. account for collection and allocation of funds
c. organize fund raising opportunities for the club

C. The advisor of the Mississippi State University Womenıs Club Soccer Association shall be a member of the faculty or staff at Mississippi State University.
1. The advisor will not have a vote.
2. Advisors will be selected by a majority club vote.
3. Advisors must sign all financial transactions and University approval forms (including Activity Forms) for events.

D. Impeachment proceedings can be held if a written petition is submitted to the faculty advisor by two or more members. A special vote to determine impeachment will be held. Impeachment will be decided by a majority of the votes.

ARTICLE VI
MEETINGS

A. Meetings will be conducted once a semester to collect dues, and discuss to discuss fund raising. During the fall semester officers will be elected.

B. Parliamentary Procedure will be used.

C. If there is a called meeting, members will be notified at least three days prior to that meeting through a written or verbal notice.

D. The president will call a meeting by first informing the officers. Second, officers will call all members and/or send them e-mail notifying the members of the scheduled meeting.

E. A quorum shall consist of fifty percent plus one members.

ARTICLE VII
DUES AND ASSESSMENTS

A. The amount and the assessment of dues will be determined by the officers prior to the first club meeting of the semester.

B. Dues will be paid within a week of the first club meeting of the semester.

C. All financial transactions must be signed by the faculty/staff advisor and the President of Treasurer.

ARTICLE VIII
AMENDING PROCEDURE

A. Amendments to this Constitution shall be proposed in writing at least seven days prior to the time they are to be voted upon.

B. Adoption of amendments shall be by a 2/3 vote of members present and voting.

ARTICLE IX
REVISION

Revision of this Constitution shall be undertaken only if a motion of revision is approved by a 2/3 vote of the members present and voting.

If such revision is approved, it shall be undertaken by a committee appointed by the President of the Mississippi State University Women's Club Soccer Association. The president shall appoint a member to serve as Chairperson of the Revision Committee.

The revision of this Constitution shall be by ballot and shall require a 2/3 vote of the members present and voting.

ARTICLE X
NON-DISCRIMINATION CLAUSE

Mississippi State University Womenıs Club Soccer Association does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, age, handicap/disability, or veteran status.
