Limited English Proficiency Plan (LEP)

  1. Statement of Commitment

    It is the policy of Mississippi State University (MSU) to assure full and affirmative compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, and related statutes and implementing authority. MSU assures that no person, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, disability, or veteran status shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which the recipient receives federal assistance from the Department of Transportation, including the Federal Highway Administration. MSU will take reasonable steps to ensure that the agency's programs, activities, services and information that are normally provided in English are accessible to LEP persons.

  2. MSU Guidelines for full Participation of Limited English Proficient (LEP) Persons
    1. The Director of the Office of Diversity and Equity Programs is MSU's LEP Liaison.
    2. The LEP Liaison shall work with the program office to identify and procure Language Assistance Services (LAS) providers when needed.
    3. MSU personnel and sub-recipients shall be informed of the obligations to provide meaningful access to information and services for LEP persons.
