School of Human Sciences provides education, research, and outreach programs related to human interaction and relation ships, early childhood, child life, youth, adult and family studies and teacher education in Family and Consumer Sciences and Agricultural Education. In addition, selected School programs focus on commerce, marketing and using technology for problem solvi ng and designing programs and projects.

In the Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising (ATM) program, students gain an understanding of the fashion and textile industries, apparel design, consumer behavior, product knowledge, and business principles. ATM graduates may become involved in a variety of occupations in clothing, textiles, merchandising, business, e-commerce, design, and others.

Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) students focus on an interdisciplinary approach to the study of children, youth, and families. HDFS g raduates enter diverse careers that focus on helping children and families to f unction effectively in today's complex society.

The Agricultural Information Science and Education (AISE) degrees provide students with an understanding of the science of assisting others to learn how to access, analyze, apply, and amend information to solve problems of ag riculture. AISE graduates may become involved in a variety of occupations in ag business, industry, education, production, extension, public relations, and others.

The Agricultural and Extension Education graduate degrees provide an individual with three options. The teaching option prepares individuals to be teachers of agricultural education in high schools and community colleges, wi th the necessary courses for certification by the Mississippi Department of Education. The leadership option prepares individuals for employment in other occupations in extension work, agricultural industry, government service, and agricommunication. The research option is designed to meet the needs of those desiring leadership positions in agriculture with an emphasis placed on developing the individual’s research and program inquiry skills.

Extension Program and Staff Development is primarily responsible for three areas of Extension administration:  professional development (including inservice training and graduate education); reporting/accountability (e nsuring that Extension's stakeholders receive the information they require to make decisions about funding Extension programming; and planning/evaluation (assisting agents and specialists in developing quality programs and determining the worth of their p rogramming).  Program and Staff Development faculty are involved in many aspects of Extension's overall programming, including orientation, training, curriculum development, data collection and analysis, reporting, technology integration, g rantwriting, project management, etc.
