Admission to Human Sciences Teacher Education Program, Mississippi State University
Students
interested in becoming a high school Family and Consumer Sciences teacher complete
requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Human Sciences degree (Human Sciences
Education option) in the School of Human Sciences, Mississippi State University.
Persons meeting general admission requirements for the University should designate
the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as the college, Human Sciences
as the major, and Human Development and Family Studies as the concentration
for assignment of a Human Sciences Education advisor.
Once the specified 45 semester hours of the general education core are completed (by end of sophomore year), Human Sciences Education students must also apply for admission to the Teacher Education program in the College of Education at Mississippi State University. The same information applies to transfer students. The following admission requirements must be met at the time of application to the Teacher Education program:

completion of the above requirements and submission of forms to the College
of Education, the student will be eligible to take upper division professional
teacher education courses.
