Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant Program (MTAG)

This program is open to any person meeting the legal residency requirements, income requirements, and academic requirements below. This program is open to students in any major, not just students enrolled in teacher education programs. Program pays up to $500 per regular academic year for Freshman/Sophomores and up to $1,000 per regular academic year for Junior/ Seniors. Since MTAG is a grant program, funds do not need to be repaid. This grant may be paired with the William Winter Teacher Loan program.

Requirements are:

• Current legal resident of Mississippi for no less than 1 year immediately preceding the award
• Students who qualify for the full federal Pell Grant do not qualify for the program. Students receiving less than the full Federal Pell Grant can qualify for the program.
• A minimum high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale AND a minimum ACT of 15.
• Students currently enrolled in a college program must have a minimum college GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale regardless of high school performance.
• Full-time enrollment (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester)
• Student must maintain progress toward a degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Student must reapply annually.
