The story of Old Main Dormitory is much more than the story of a building. Throughout nearly 80 years, some 40,000 young men--four generations--lived within its walls. Old Main embodies Mississippi State University itself, for the university is its students.
In honor of the grand old dorm and of those who called it home, history professors Charles Lowery and Roy Scott have produced a history of Old Main.
Available through the Alumni Association, OLD MAIN: Images of a Legend contains photographs, reminiscences by former residents, and a thorough history of what was reputedly the largest college dormitory under one roof in the nation.
