George Rodney Lightsey of Starkville died Sept. 15, 1995. He was 52.
A professor of chemical engineering at Mississippi State, Lightsey was a 1965 graduate of the university. He received his doctorate at Louisiana State University in 1969.
Lightsey won several awards for faculty excellence, including the Upper Level Teaching Award from the Mississippi State Alumni Association in 1989. He was a former member of the Robert Holland Faculty Senate, a registered professional engineer, and founder and president of Lightsey Engineering Ltd.
