A new academic program offered by four Mississippi universities will provide persons with full-time jobs access to advanced education, no matter where they live.
The master of science degree in systems management is a cooperative venture of Mississippi State, Jackson State University, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of Mississippi.
Using telecommunications and information technology, the schools will deliver courses that prepare workers for 21st century business challenges. Courses will include computer productivity, operations management, financial decision making, telecommunications management, and other workplace applications.
Students who continue to work full time and enroll in at least four two-hour classes each year can earn the degree in just over three years.
Potential classroom sites include community colleges, universities, and other facilities with distance learning capabilities.
Persons enrolling must first take the Graduate Management Admissions Test. The next national test date is Jan. 18; registration is Dec. 20.
