College students from around the South and as far away as Puerto Rico spent the summer gaining exposure to advanced computer research at MSU.
Funded by the National Science Foundation, the 10-week Research Experiences for Undergraduates was designed to strengthen science and engineering educational opportunities.
Held at the Engineering Research Center for Computational Field Simulation, the program allowed students to work on advanced research projects.
Fourteen students from 10 institutions participated.
By using the latest computing tools and research, students were exposed to technologies and techniques they wouldn’t encounter in classes.
Besides research projects, participants attended seminars, visited other campus research facilities, and worked on communication skills. At the end of the summer program, they organized a technical conference and presented their research in written reports.
