

Charles Marion Quinnelly
former faculty member
Charles Marion Quinnelly of Spartanburg, S.C., former faculty member in the Department of Political Science at Mississippi State, died June 27, 1996. He was 63.
A Columbus native, Quinnelly received a bachelor's degree in 1955 and a master's degree in 1957 at Mississippi State and earned a juris doctorate at the University of Alabama. He practiced law and was a municipal judge in Moulton, Ala., 1962-64.
After joining the faculty at Mississippi State, he taught American government and constitutional history. He was a member of the Faculty Council, and was faculty adviser for the Epsilon Epsilon chapter of ATO fraternity.
He was active in Boy Scouts of America, serving as Scout Master for Troop 16 in Starkville. He also was active in a number of professional and honorary societies.
He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard, serving as a battery commander, and was a member of the teaching faculty of the Mississippi National Guard Academy at Camp Shelby.
In 1978, he moved to Spartanburg as director of the criminal justice program at the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg. He also was a staff member of the Spartanburg Public Library, and at the time of his retirement, he was in the circulation department at the USC-S library.
