McMahon tabbed for coach of the year honors

Mississippi State baseball coach Pat McMahon has been selected as the American Baseball Coaches Association/Diamond Sports Company Division I South Region Coach of the Year.

The award will be presented to McMahon and the other seven regional coach of the year honorees at the ABCA national convention Jan. 3, 1999 in Atlanta.

McMahon guided Mississippi State to a 41-23 record and a berth in the 1998 NCAA College World Series in his first season as the Bulldogs' head baseball coach.

"This is a tribute to the Mississippi State baseball program-our players, our assistant coaches Jim Case, Tommy Raffo, and Charlie Anderson, our managers and trainers," said McMahon. "We also share this honor with another important part of our program, all of the great baseball fans at Mississippi State."
