
Alumni Association chooses fellows for 1999
The Mississippi State Alumni Association's Alumni Fellows Program this year honored eight individuals who are leaders in a wide range of professional fields.
Now in its 11th year, the program recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers. Each college or school of the university selects a representative from its respective area to return to campus as a mentor and counselor to students. The title is carried permanently.
This year's honorees are:
- Jeffrey K. Easterling (College of Forest Resources) of New Orleans, La., vice president of marketing for the Southern Forest Products Association in Kenner, La. He received bachelor's degrees in business administration and wood science and technology in 1980.
- Kevin T. Ivey (College of Arts and Sciences) of Meridian, vice president for research and development, Basic Technology, at Cable News Network. He received a bachelor's degree in communication in 1984.
- Elton R. King (College of Engineering) of Atlanta, Ga., group president of the network and carrier services group for BellSouth Telecommunications. He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1968.
- Anthony S. Mancuso (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) of St. Louis, Mo., golf course superintendent for Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. He received a bachelor's degree in agronomy and turf grass management in 1979.
- Susan R. Nelms (College of Veterinary Medicine) of Helena, Ala., private practitioner and owner of Veterinary Eye Care in Helena and consulting ophthalmologist for the College of Veterinary Medicine at MSU. She received a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1990.
- G. Tim Rosenbury (School of Architecture) of Springfield, Mo., partner in Butler, Rosenbury & Partners architectural, interior design, and planning firm in Springfield. He received a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1980.
- Tina Fisher Scholtes (College of Education) of Starkville, a teacher at Sudduth Elementary School in Starkville and a Mississippi Teacher of the Year. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1981 and a master's degree in education in 1984.
- Gerald W. Thames (College of Business and Industry) of Duluth, Ga., vice chairman, CEO, and president of Global Telesystems Group. He received a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering in 1968 and a master's degree in business administration in 1971.
The 1999 fellows visited campus Oct. 10-12.
