Dear MSU Alumni and Friends,

This open letter is an appeal for your financial support of our great university by means of a bequest. Regardless of your age, you can make a deferred gift to Mississippi State by including the university in your will.

The MSU Foundation was established to strengthen and enrich the academic mission of Mississippi State. Gifts to the Foundation, whether outright or deferred (as in a will), are used to provide scholarships; to support faculty; to strengthen teaching, research, and service; to build needed facilities; and to support other programs and priorities. Bequests provide significant future financial support to supplement today's outright gifts and pledges.

MSU is proud of its past and excited about its future. To recognize those alumni and friends who help to ensure that the university's traditions are preserved and its future is secure by including MSU in their wills, the Old Main Society was established. Membership is obtained by providing the Office of Development a copy of the will, or that portion of the will pertaining to MSU.

I encourage you to read and consider the sample language for bequests on this page and to consult with your attorney in the execution of your will. Contact a development officer in the school or college where you have an affiliation, relationship, or interest, or contact me if you have questions about the designation of your deferred gift. Send me a copy of your will or that portion pertaining to MSU, and I will ensure your recognition as an Old Main Society member (unless you wish to remain anonymous).
