Erle S. Breeden of Raymond has been named to the Hinds Community College Sports Hall of Fame. He is retired as a district manager for the Agricultural Chemical Division of U.S. Steel.

Gray W. Harrison of Jackson, retired major general in the U.S. Army and former Adjutant General of Mississippi, has been elected to a second three-year term on the American National Red Cross Board of Governors, the 50-member body that has stewardship responsibilities for the entire Red Cross.

William C. Pittman Jr. has retired from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command following 52 years of federal service. His last assignment was as program manager, Missile Guidance Directorate of the Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center. In 1992, he received the Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Medal for his leadership in developing plans for a Department of Defense integrated circuit program.

Renan Richmond of McComb has been awarded honorary membership in the Mississippi Hospital Association. He recently retired as administrative director of systems and audits at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Sidney P. Saucier of Huntsville, Ala., associate director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, has received the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive award for service in 1998.

Dick Hall of Jackson, a former state senator, was elected chairman of the Mississippi Transportation Commission in June. In April, Gov. Kirk Fordice had appointed Hall to serve as Central District Transportation Commissioner. As chairman of the three-member body, he will preside over its bi-monthly meetings in Jackson. The commission is the governing body of the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

Alexander Graham Bell of Crystal Springs has retired from Texas Instruments Inc. following 32 years of service.

Gerald Moore of Petal, a consulting forester and owner and president of Pine Belt Foresters, has been elected a fellow in the Society of American Foresters. In 1998, he was the Mississippi Wildlife Federation's Forest Conservationist of the Year.

Jerry W. Robinson Jr. (Ph.D. '66) of Cleveland has received the Rural Sociological Society's Distinguished Rural Sociologist Award. Robinson is director of the Center for Community Development and professor of social science at Delta State University. The award recognizes Robinson's "superior contributions to rural sociology by demonstrating excellence through research, teaching, public service, extension, and public policy."

Billy R. Jones of Clinton has been appointed Gulf Coast district director for the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Labor Department. He previously was assistant district director of the Jackson office.

Phil K. Livingston of Hammond, La., has received the Golden Ambassador Award from Southeastern Louisiana University in recognition of outstanding service to the university. Livingston, retired president of Deposit Guaranty National Bank, is chairman of Southeastern's "Commitment to Excellence" capital campaign.

W. Stanley Anthony (M.S. '70) of Greenville, supervisory agricultural engineer and research leader at the USDA-ARS Cotton Ginning Laboratory at Stoneville, has received the Mayfield Cotton Engineering Award from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. The award is sponsored by Deere & Co. and recognizes Anthony's decades of contributions to the cotton ginning industry.

Harris H. Barnes III (M.S. '72) of Jackson, senior member of Barnes, Broom, Dallas and McLeod tax firm, is the new president of the Hinds County Bar Association.

Pat Staggers Lane of Starkville, a Realtor, was Top Producer in Mississippi for Coldwell Banker in 1998.

William C. Neal of Little Rock, Ark., is manager of special assets for Mercantile Bank of Arkansas in Little Rock. He also was a 1998 recipient of the Boy Scouts' Silver Beaver Award.

James Erwin Cofer (M.B.A. '75) of Little Rock, Ark., has earned a doctoral degree in higher education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Lamar Conerly Jr. of Destin, Fla., is senior partner in the law firm of Conerly-Helmich and is national president of the MSU Alumni Association.

Henry Paul Stuart of Yongsan, South Korea, is a colonel of infantry assigned to the Eighth U.S. Army. He has been stationed in South Korea since July 1997.

James H. Clayton (M.B.A. '74) of Indianola has been elected to the executive committee of the Mississippi Bankers Association. He will serve a three-year term. Clayton is president and CEO of Planters Bank & Trust Co. in Indianola.

W.A. Batson Jr. of Kingsport, Tenn., has been named manager of Indirect Materials and Services at Eastman Chemical Co. He is a 17-year Eastman employee.

Mark Henry of Flowood was named Gov. Kirk Fordice's Chief of Staff in July.

Karen M. Felder of Brandon has been elected to a three-year term on the Management Committee of the MENSA Investment Club. She recently retired after 22 years of public service for the State of Mississippi. Felder was a charter member of the Mississippi Certified Public Managers Society.

Steve G. Taylor (M.B.A. '81) of Starkville has been named president of BankFirst in Starkville, a branch of Merchants and Farmers Capital Corp. in Macon. He previously was with Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Tupelo for 11 years. Taylor also serves as national first vice president of the Mississippi State Alumni Association.

William F. Pyron of Jackson has been named director of project development for the Jackson office of Pickering Environmental Consultants.

Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo, a state senator and Tupelo businessman, has been named Outstanding Legislator of the Year by the Mississippi Chapter of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Nunnelee, who represents Lee and Pontotoc counties in the Senate, was blind while in school at Mississippi State and later had his vision restored by cornea transplants. The award cites his work to "support citizens in Mississippi with visual disabilities."

Maureen H. Scott of Raymond, a certified public accountant, has joined the Jackson office of Horne CPA Group as a tax manager.

Paul G. Clements (Ph.D. '86) of Cartersville, Ga., is the lead psychologist for the Pickens County School System in Jasper, Ga.

William W. Enders of Austin, Texas, has become a partner in the legal firm of O'Keefe, Egan & Peterman.

Michael O. Raybon of Picayune has been named Engineer of the Year by Lockheeed Martin Michoud Space Systems in New Orleans. He is a group engineer in the mechanical design group for the company, which produces the space shuttle external fuel tank.

James W. Butler III of Cummings, Ga., has been appointed to the President's Export Council Subcommittee on Encryption, where he will represent the Association of On-line Professionals. Butler is a partner in the Atlanta law firm of Arnall Golden & Gregory. He also teaches Internet law at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Kimberley Peters Myers (M.P.A. '84) of Brentwood, Tenn., has been promoted to vice president for corporate finance at PhyCor Inc.

Donald A. Shepherd of Kenner, La., has been named a partner in the New Orleans accounting and tax firm of Deloitte & Touche. Shepherd has 15 years of public accounting experience.

D. Paul Sparks of Birmingham, Ala., has been named vice president of operations for Energen Resources Corp. in Birmingham. He is a 10-year employee of Energen.

William Ford Wall of Monticello has been named sales manager for Brackett Green U.S.A. in Houston, Texas. He will be responsible for industrial sales in the U.S., Canada, and South America.

Cynthia D. Stemple of Huntsville, Ala., a Marshall Space Flight Center employee, has been awarded an Exceptional Achievement Medal from NASA, one of 25 given this year.

Ollie Dee Boykin Jr. of Lucedale, a certified public accountant, has been appointed a shareholder in the Lucedale and Nashville, Tenn., offices of Horne CPA Group. Boykin joined the firm in 1987 and provides tax and management advisory services.

James T. Mood of Madison, assistant vice president of economic development for the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi, has completed study at the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He also is a 1996 graduate of the Mississippi School of Banking at the University of Mississippi.

Deborah Lynn Adams Myers of Kosciusko teaches pre-kindergarten at Greenlee Elementary School.

Timothy A. Courtney (M.A. '88) of Florence has been promoted to first vice president with BancorpSouth. He has been with the bank since 1988.

Stan P. Purvis of Ridgeland, a certified public accountant, has joined Medley & Co., an investment advisory firm in Jackson. He previously was with a financial planing firm in Birmingham, Ala.

Irene Dumas Tyson, director of the South Carolina Design Arts Partnership, has been elected by her class to serve a two-year term on the Leadership South Carolina Board of Trustees. The LSC program, administered by the University of South Carolina, seeks to identify and develop outstanding business leaders in the state.

Jack Dewitt Wells of Lilburn, Ga., has been promoted to plant manager for Eaton/Cutler-Hammer's facility in Austell, Ga. He has been employed with Cutler-Hammer for 10 years.

Todd E. Clapp has transferred with the 3M Corp. from St. Paul, Minn., to Decatur, Ala. He is working with measurements and inspection systems.

Mark Thomas Peden of Orlando, Fla., is general manager for Aramark Uniform and Career Apparel in Orlando.

Steven Zeng of Orlando, Fla., has joined the technical services staff of Galaxy Foods Co.

Teri Smith Brinkman of Travelers Rest, S.C., has been promoted to associate director of sports information at Furman University. A nine-year employee of Furman, Brinkman coordinates publicity for 12 of the university's 17 intercollegiate sports.

Teresa Templeton Dillon of Madison has been selected by the University Medical Center School of Dentistry, BellSouth Pioneers, and Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America to develop and implement an anti-tobacco community education program funded by the Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi.

Robert Darryl Hamilton of Jackson is a fellow in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Jonathan Hasson (M.S. '92) of San Juan, Puerto Rico, has been promoted within his company, Aqua Alliance Inc., and has relocated to San Juan. On assignment with AAI's parent company, Vivenda Corp., he is compliance manager and co-chief of the Puerto Rico sanitary sewer treatment system.

Suzanna Kennedy Haynie of Lexington, Ga., is one of 1,700 teachers selected nationwide in 1999 to receive a Target Teachers Scholarship. She was selected on the basis of her work in the Northeast Georgia RESA Gifted Institute.

Anna S. Roberts of Nashville, Tenn., has been promoted to senior associate with the architectural and engineering firm of Gresham, Smith & Partners. She is a project manager in the corporate division of GS&P.

Mike Carollo Jr. of Brentwood, Tenn., has been promoted to director of driver recruiting at Star Transportation.

Tracy Fortenberry (M.S. '93) of St. Louis, Mo., has joined Paraquad Inc., a private rehabilitation organization, as program director for the Medicaid Waiver Program.

Mardi Spayd Hasson has relocated with husband Jonathan to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Kellie Huff Hedrick of Concord, N.C., has joined Corning Inc. as a senior manufacturing engineer at the company's new fiber optics plant in Concord.

Chad Norton of Natchez, a physician with subspecialty training in ophthalmology, has joined the Eye Center of Natchez.

Jose A. Rosado is pursuing a master's of business administration degree at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.. He previously worked for Oracle Corp.'s Latin America Division in Miami, Fla.

Wayne Skaggs of Cooper City, Fla., has been promoted to senior account executive with e.spire Communications in Fort Lauderdale.

Shannon Belk Tucker of Starkville is owner of The Sundial.

Lee Halford Blakeney of Baton Rouge, La., has been promoted to technical and engineering section supervisor at Exxon's Baton Rouge plastics plant. She also has become a certified Professional Engineer.

Andrew C. Copeland (M.P.A. '93) of Madison has been promoted to manager in the Jackson office of Horne CPA Group.

Laura Beth Fleming Hendricks of Nashville, Tenn., is a certified public accountant and supervisor with O'Neil Hagaman, a Nashville business management and consulting firm.

Joel R. Hydrick of Clermont, Fla., has been promoted to audio visual manager at Walt Disney World.

Scott A. Livingston of Orlando, Fla., is an associate with the law firm of Williams & Davis. He graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in 1997.

Scott Owen of Lenexa, Kan., has been named regional vice president for the Midwest Division of Gulf South Medical Supply.

Penelope A. Payne of Hernando has been named public relations manager for Tunica County's Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Thomas C. Tucker of Starkville is a loss control underwriter for FCCI Insurance Group.

Joe Milton Turner of Tucker, Ga., has joined Bank of America as vice president in associate development.

Vicki Whitener-Lepanto of O'Fallon, Ill., has joined the faculty of McKendree College in Lebanon, Ill., as an assistant professor of education. She previously was a member of the faculty at Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Mo.

John Justin Clark of Olive Branch has been promoted to manager with Andersen Consulting's Atlanta office.

Michael R. Hess of Jackson has joined the Jackson office of the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman & Caldwell as an associate.

Allan Kendall Kennedy of Saginaw, Mich., a noise and vibration validation engineer for DELPHI Automotive Systems, has received a Special Recognition Award at the 1999 U.S. Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference in Baltimore, Md. One of 82 nominees, he was runner-up in the Most Promising Young Engineer category.

Mollie Marie Livingston Russell of Edwards, Calif., is an aerospace engineer for the Department of the Air Force in the 419th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards AFB.

Jon James Smalstig of Park Hills, Ky., is a meteorologist for the WLWT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Patti Whitworth Hammack of Cordova, Tenn., has been named corporate accounting manager at Cortelco Systems Inc. in Memphis.

Marti Welch Pulido of Laurel has joined Mercedes Benz in Vance, Ala., as an engineering change coordinator in the company's logistics/production control department.

Angela Dale Weaver Tommasini (M.S. '97) of Ridgeland teaches second grade in the Jackson Public Schools.

Paul L. Wasserman of Pittsburgh, Pa., received a medical degree from the University of Health Sciences Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., in May. He will complete his residency training in radiology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Dan C. Jordan III (M.S. '97) of Palm Springs, Calif., has joined Spotlight 29 Casino in Palm Springs as director of marketing. He previously was advertising manager for Silver Star Resort and Casino in Philadelphia.

Jason L. Williams of Brandon received the doctor of medicine degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in May and began residency in internal medicine at UMC in July.

Thomas Duane Gordon of Canton, news editor of the Madison County Journal in Ridgeland, received three awards at a recent Mississippi Press Association conference. He received first and third place in the Best Investigative Reporting category and an honorable mention in the Best General News Photograph category.

Stephen K. Green (M.S. '97) of Starkville is an instructor in the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports Department at Mississippi State.

Tina Day Green of Starkville has been named senior computing consultant in Information Technology Services at Mississippi State.

Jason Mark Harner of Westminster, Colo., has been promoted into the corporate development and strategic planning group at Level 3 Communications.

Joy Smith Lewis has moved to Singapore with husband Brian, a captain in the Air Force.

Christopher W. Perry of Birmingham, Ala., has graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky., with a master of divinity degree. He is now associate pastor at Huffman United Methodist Church in Birmingham.

Brad S. Sinclair (M.P.A. '97) of Jackson has been promoted to supervisor in the Jackson office of Horne CPA Group.

Sara Jo Watson of Northglenn, Colo., works in the city manager's office in Westminster, Colo.
