Five student affairs administrators promoted

A veteran Mississippi State administrator is among five in the university’s student affairs division who assumed new duties in August.

Jimmy W. Abraham became assistant vice president, moving from his position as director of enrollment services. A student affairs employee since 1977, he has had major responsibility for coordinating and implementing recruiting goals of the state’s largest university since 1985. Abraham fills the position being vacated by Gene Tice, who has left to become student affairs and administration vice president at Western Kentucky University.

Associate enrollment services director John R. Dickerson moved up to the director's position and Bill Broyles became assistant to the vice president while continuing as associate director of Longest Student Health Center.

Ann Bailey is the new director of housing and residence life. She was the department's former assistant director.

Stacy M. Roberson is the new director of the Richard Holmes Cultural Diversity Center at Mississippi State. The center’s former program coordinator, Roberson assumed the position in July, replacing Samuel T. Miller, who resigned in June.

Abraham will continue to focus on the student enrollment areas, including the offices of admissions, enrollment services, financial aid, and international student services. Abraham received bachelor's and master's degrees from MSU in 1975 and 1977, respectively, and a doctorate from the University of Mississippi in 1985.

Dickerson holds a bachelor's degree from Mississippi College and a master's from MSU.

Broyles, a certified public accountant, now is responsible for division-wide fiscal affairs management. He completed both bachelor's and master's degrees at MSU.

Bailey holds a doctorate from MSU in higher education administration with an emphasis on student development.

Roberson holds a bachelor’s degree in social science education and a master’s in counseling and guidance, both from JSU. Currently, she is working on a doctorate at MSU in counselor education.
