The Alumni Association named 12 outstanding chapters for 1999 at the Annual Alumni Awards Banquest in February. The recipients were selected from among 87 chapters throughout the state and nation.

In-state chapters honored for excellence in giving, chapter membership, chapter activities, and leadership were:

• Category I, selected for membership potential of under 325-1. Covington County; 2. Simpson County; and 3. Amite County.
• Category II, selected from chapters with membership potential of 325 to 999-1. Lincoln County; 2. Union County; and 3. Panola County.
• Category III, selected from chapters with membership potential of more than 1,000-1. Southeast Mississippi; 2. Oktibbeha County; and 3. Washington County.

Outstanding out-of-state chapters for 1999 were: 1. Mobile, Ala.; 2. Birmingham, Ala.; and 3. Memphis, Tenn.
