Ron Polk joined 160 other amateur baseball coaching greats in the ABCA Hall of Fame, located in Omaha, Neb. He became the third Mississippi State head coach chosen for the Hall of Fame. C.R. "Dudy" Noble was inducted in 1967 and Paul Gregory joined him in 1977.

"We're very happy for Ron," said Larry Templeton, Mississippi State's director of athletics. "We congratulate him on an outstanding coaching career."
Polk enters his 20th season at Mississippi State this spring and his 24th campaign as a head college coach. He has a 924-416 career record for a winning percentage of .690, and is one of a handful of coaches to ever take two different programs to the College World Series, leading Georgia Southern to Omaha once and Mississippi State four times.
At Mississippi State, Polk has guided the Bulldogs to a 769-352 (.686) record and a 279-173 (.617) ledger in SEC play. His teams have won four conference titles and played in the NCAA Tournament 13 times.
Polk was ABCA Coach of the Year in 1985 and president of the ABCA in 1985-86. He was recognized in both 1973 and 1988 as the winner of the association's Lefty Gomez Award, the highest honor given by the ABCA.
