

The program's purpose is to identify emerging leaders up to age 40 to help them develop leadership skills that will make a positive impact on growth and development for the state and local communities.
Mississippi State alumni picked for the program are:
DeWitt Andrew Dixon Jr. ('79, M.S. '81), vice president for commercial loans with Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Greenville. Dixon is a division chairman of the United Way of Washington County and chairman of the Agribusiness Committee of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.
Mark R. Green ('79) of Jackson, a financial consultant with Smith Barney Inc. He is a member of the Board of Business Partners International and a past president of the MBA Association of Mississippi. He also is active in Boy Scouts and Habitat for Humanity.
Randall L. Meador ('77), vice president of Neel-Schaffer Inc. in Hattiesburg. He is a past president of the Southeast Area Chapter of the Mississippi Engineering Society and was named by that organization as Outstanding Professional Engineer for 1993. He is a member of the American Planning Association and National Society of Professional Engineers.
Samuel W. Slaughter III ('83) of Starkville, vice president and loan officer for the National Bank of Commerce of Mississippi. He is president-elect of Civitan Civic Club, chair of the Budget/Allocation Committee for Starkville United Way, and University Relations Committee chair for the Oktibbeha County Development Foundation.
Charles B. Smith, owner of CS Timber in Eupora. He is a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, serves on the Steering Committee for the TVA Project, and is a member of the Choctaw Economic Council and the Mississippi Forestry Association.
Participants in the seven-month program take part in an agenda that includes leadership skills training, a practical field exercise in identifying specific problems, and development of action plans for problem solving.
More than 700 of the state's outstanding citizens have graduated from the program during its 20-year history.
