New program will network alumni with career opportunities

The Alumni Association has joined with a national career networking service to help link Mississippi State alumni with corporate America.

Through a contract with SkillSearch, a large national database service offering a comprehensive approach to career networking, Mississippi State's alumni are now eligible to enroll in this program.

For a discounted, one-time only processing fee of $65, alumni will receive a questionnaire for listing career history, salary requirements, professional achievements, and geographic preferences. SkillSearch then prepares a professional resume based on this information and forwards it to the subscriber. When the resume matches a job opening, SkillSearch forwards the resume to the company, without exposing alumni to the professional dangers of open job-seeking.

"We are excited about this new career networking opportunity for our alumni," said John Correro, executive director of the Alumni Association. "SkillSearch has been successful with graduates of similar institutions, and some 95 percent of the program participants currently are employed."

SkillSearch currently is available for Mississippi State alumni who graduated between 1966 and 1993. Alumni may re-enroll in the program annually for $15.
