Smith Barney's Consulting Group has named Alfred F. Eaton Jr. ('70), of the firm's Bakersfield, Calif., office, a senior investment management consultant. Eaton, who has served as chairman of the Bakersfield Air Service Improvement Committee and the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee, is one of fewer than 100 of Smith Barney's 10,000 financial consultants holding the prestigious designation.
Eaton also has been named first vice president-investments by Smith Barney.
The senior investment management consultant title is the highest of three designation levels in the firm's career development program. It identifies professionals who have acquired in-depth knowledge in the field.
Eaton develops investment guidelines and asset allocation studies, conducts portfolio manager searches, and monitors performance for more than 400 clients with approximately $59 million in assets.
After receiving his bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering at Mississippi State, Eaton earned a master's in aviation systems from the University of Tennessee. He has worked in the investment field for more than 14 years.
He is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association and the Association of Professional Investment Consultants.
Smith Barney's Consulting Group serves more than 193,000 client accounts representing more than $67 billion in assets.
