Mississippi State golfer Michael Connell finished the fall season ranked No. 8 in the country in the men's Rolex Collegiate Golf Rankings, up from a preseason ranking of No. 17.
The Richardson, Texas, junior won back-to-back tournaments to close out the fall season.
For the first time since 1990, the top two men's collegiate tennis players are from the same team-Mississippi State University.
Bulldog tennis players Thomas Dupre and Matthieu Ballay, college roommates, were ranked No. 1 and No. 2 respectively last December by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Dupre was 13-1 last fall, winning the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships and the Reebok All-American Hardcourt Championships, both with wins in the finals over Ballay. Ballay was 10-3 in the fall, with two of the losses to Dupre.
The Mississippi State men's team finished the fall ranked third in the nation.
