Outstanding alumni chapters honored


The Alumni Association named 12 outstanding chapters for 1996.

In-state chapters honored for excellence in giving, chapter membership, chapter activities, and leadership were:

  o Category I, selected from among 22 chapters with membership potential of under 250-1. Covington County, Janet Anderson, president; 2. Quitman County, Charles Mack Young, president; and 3. Claiborne-Jefferson County, Walter Cade, president.

  o Category II, selected from among 24 chapters with membership potential of 250 to 499-1. Union County, Allen Maxwell Jr., president; 2. Tippah County, Jody Steverson, president; and 3. Coahoma County, Johnny Baker, president.

  o Category III, selected from among 23 chapters with membership potential of more than 500-1. Washington County, Lea Margaret McLaurin, president; 2. Forrest-Lamar-Perry County, Jennifer Wicker, president; and 3. Oktibbeha County, Tamra Swann, president.

Outstanding out-of-state chapters for 1996 were: 1. Huntsville, Ala., Rebecca Jones, president; 2. Memphis, Tenn., Hugh Beckam, president; and 3. Birmingham, Ala., William L. "Bill" Stockton III, president.
