Three alumni were awarded the J. E. "Red" Ruffin Award at the Alumni Awards Banquet in recognition of their exemplary efforts in organizing and directing annual giving efforts through their local alumni chapters.
Recipients of the award for 1996 were:
Karen Hulett, for her role in helping the Central Mississippi Chapter obtain a 38 percent increase in dollars pledged over 1995 during its annual phonathon.
Hugh Beckam, for leading the Memphis, Tenn., Chapter in its annual phonathon, producing a 66 percent increase in dollars, and for his chapter membership recruiting efforts which led to a 10 percent increase.
Mary Glover, for her role in raising more than $100,000 for an endowed Mississippi State University scholarship from the Tippah County Chapter.
