Tippah County Reaches Milestone
Mississippi State President Donald W. Zacharias traveled to Ripley last fall to address and to salute the Alumni Association's Tippah County Chapter for surpassing the $100,000 mark in its scholarship fund. That's quite an accomplishment from a county of around 300 Mississippi State alumni. According to Amy Arledge, the Alumni Association's coordinator of chapter programs, the Tippah County Chapter has "issued a challenge to all Mississippi State alumni chapters to meet or surpass their goal in support of educational excellence at Mississippi State." Jody Steverson, president of the Tippah County Chapter, said the chapter's new goal after topping the $100,000 mark is to "raise enough money over the next few years to ensure that every student from Tippah County who chooses to attend one of the South's finest academic institutions will receive scholarship aid. A lofty goal, but one we will be prepared to enthusiastically shoulder," he says.
