The Joe Frank Sanderson Center slated to open this spring features a full-size lap pool and a smaller pool; basketball, racquetball, and weightlifting facilities; jogging and other fitness areas; and dressing rooms. The $19.2 million, 146,000-square-foot indoor recreational facility is made possible by a gift from the late Joe Frank Sanderson ('47) of Laurel and support from the Mississippi Legislature. Sanderson was founder of Sanderson Farms, one of the nation's largest integrated processors of fresh and frozen chicken and other food products.
