Above, this model shows the planned expansion of Dudy Noble Field/Polk-DeMent Stadium, which is expected to begin immediately following the 1998 baseball season in May. The project includes 1,034 new chairback seats, to be added to each end of the current grandstand. Extending above the top of the grandstand will be 18 skyboxes, nine boxes on each side of the press box. All 18 skyboxes already have been leased for 10 years.Below, Humphrey Coliseum also is getting a new look, most significantly to the interior. The planned renovation includes adding 1,006 new chairback seats (bringing capacity to near 10,500); a reconfiguration of seating and improved access; brand-new lighting to meet TV standards; a new wood court; two new, larger women's restrooms; and a new heating and cooling system. In addition, parking around the coliseum will double. Most of the work, which will begin this spring, is expected to be completed in time for the start of practice on Oct. 15. The new floor and the heating and cooling system will be installed in summer 1999. ![]() |
