Two receive 1998 Distinguished Service Award

Two Mississippi State alumni were honored at the annual Alumni Awards Banquet in January for their service to the university through local alumni chapters.

Receiving Distinguished Service Awards for 1998 were:

Brenda Thornton
Thornton
Karen Dugard of Madison, Ala., who received her bachelor's degree in management and marketing in 1982 and her master's degree in business in 1994. She currently is budget analyst for the chief financial officer of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. She has served the Huntsville, Ala., Chapter since 1995, as annual giving chairperson, vice president, and president.

Brenda Thornton of Jackson, who received her bachelor's degree in computer science in 1975. She currently is chief information officer of AmFed Companies in Ridgeland. She has been an active board member with the Central Mississippi Chapter since 1993, overseeing student recruiting and scholarships, serving as president and vice president, and chairing the 20th annual Summer Extravaganza in 1997.
