Design engineer receives young alumnus award

David Vaughn of Decatur, Ga., received the 1999 Prestigious Young Alumnus Award at the annual Alumni Awards Banquet in January.

Vaughn received his bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Mississippi State in 1992. He received his master's degree in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech in 1998.

He currently serves as vice president of marketing and chief information officer for Synaps Inc., a start-up company that provides consulting and software for engineering design.

Vaughn is vice president of the Atlanta Chapter of the Alumni Association, and he developed and maintains the chapter's web site. As membership chair in 1997, he organized one of the most successful phon-a-thons in chapter history. He also started the chapter's young alumni group.
