
The Alumni Association named 13 outstanding chapters for 1998 at its annual Alumni Awards Banquet in January. The recipients were selected from among 86 chapters throughout Mississippi and the United States.
In-state chapters honored for excellence in giving, chapter membership, chapter activities, and leadership were:
Category I, selected from chapters with membership potential of under 324-1. Covington County, Lisa Campbell, president; 2. Tippah County, Roger Childs, president; and 3. Simpson County, Billy Hankins, president.
Category II, selected from chapters with membership potential of 325 to 999-1. Washington County, Chuck Hobart, president; 2. Union County, Walt Harrison, president; and 3. Jackson County, Alan Sudduth, president.
Category III, selected from chapters with membership potential of more than 1,000-1. Oktibbeha County, John Rush, president; 2. Central Mississippi, Brenda Thornton, president; and 3. Southeast Mississippi, Jim Koerber, president.
Outstanding out-of-state chapters for 1998 were: (tied) 1. Huntsville, Ala., Jim Ward, president; 1. Mobile, Ala., Edward Collum, president; 2. Atlanta, Ga., Jerry Williams, president; and 3. Memphis, Tenn., Robert Hubbard, president.
