Designated hitter Ty Martin scores the winning
run against Notre Dame in the championship game
of the four-team regional tournament at
Starkville. The win sent the Bulldogs to the NCAA
Super Regional Tournament at Clemson, the last
stop before the NCAA College World Series.
Although MSU lost the double elimination
tournament to the host Tigers, the Bulldogs
completed yet another successful baseball season.
The team, ranked 10th going into play with No. 5
Clemson, finished the year with a 41-20 record,
17-10 in the Southeastern Conference. This marked
the 18th time MSU competed in NCAA regional
postseason play. The Bulldogs have advanced to
the College World Series seven times since 1971,
twice in the last three years.
