Mississippi State's economic impact tops $500 million

Mississippi State's economic impact within the state totaled more than $500 million and accounted for nearly 13,000 jobs in 1992-93, according to a study released by the university's Office of Research.

The total economic impact of $506 million included an estimated $283 million in direct spending by the university, faculty, staff, students, and visitors, according to the study performed by Dr. Charles Campbell, associate professor of economics.

The total of 12,893 jobs attributed to the university's economic activity included more than 5,300 resulting from out-of-state revenues attracted by Mississippi State. Other highlights:
