Taylor elected to Allstate board


The Allstate Corp. has elected Mary Alice Taylor ('71), senior vice president-U.S. and Canada for Federal Express Corp., as a member of its board of directors.

Taylor joined Federal Express, the world's largest express transportation company, in 1980 as a management information consultant.

In 1994, she assumed her current position, with responsibility for all pickup and delivery operations in North America.

Before joining Federal Express, she held management positions with Shell Oil, Cook Industries, and Northern Telecom Inc.

Taylor is a member of the External Research Advisory Committee for Mississippi State. She also is an executive director for the Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America, and is a member of the executive advisory board for transportation studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Allstate Corp., the parent of Allstate Insurance Co., is the nation's largest publicly held personal lines insurance company, insuring one of every eight homes and automobiles in the country.
