The associate director of Mississippi State's cooperative education program has received national recognition from the American Society of Engineering Education in its Cooperative Education Division.
J. Mike Mathews recently was presented the Alvah K. Borman Award in recognition of "meritorious contributions" in the fields of engineering and engineering technology.
He served as CED division chair in 1993-94 and was general conference chair for the 1997 national meeting.
The assistant professor of cooperative programs has been a consultant to the U.S. Department of Education and the Southeastern Training Center for Cooperative Education.
He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Mississippi State.
