About 18,000 third- and fourth-graders have benefited from a traveling display designed to educate them about one of Mississippi's most popular game animals.
The Mobile White-Tailed Deer Classroom features a variety of educational materials about the animals, their habitat, uses, and management. Developed by the Mississippi State 4-H Field and Stream program, which is part of the Mississippi State University Extension Service, the classroom is available for use by public and private schools.
The project was one of 13 programs honored in May by the Public Education Forum of Mississippi. It annually recognizes innovative educational programs for schools.
