If you are traveling with the Bulldog football team for the Auburn game in October, you might want to carry your golf clubs along for the trip.
A group of alumni of Mississippi State's Professional Golf Management program have arranged for university alumni to enjoy a round of golf at the highly acclaimed Grand National Golf Course on Oct. 9, 1999, the day of the MSU vs. Auburn football game in Auburn, Ala. Grand National is located just minutes from campus.
For just $25, which includes green fees and cart, alumni can play Grand National's short course, one of the best par three courses in the South, says Sean Curry, a 1993 PGM graduate and director of golf at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Cambrian Ridge Golf Club in Greenville, Ala.
An 8 a.m. shotgun start tentatively is planned but is subject to change if game time changes to accommodate television.
Grand National, also part of the golf trail that runs through much of Alabama, will play host to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship in 2000. The course hosted the LPGA's Tournament of Champions in 1998.
For directions or to register to play, contact Hunter Harris or Stan Wright, PGM graduates at Grand National, at 334-749-9042. For more information on the course, visit: http://www.rtjgolf.com/grand/index.html.
