Engineering dean receives major international honor
Mississippi State's engineering dean is among a select group being honored by the International Engineering Consortium.
Wayne Bennett, also a professor of electrical and computer engineering, is among 14 in the nation selected to receive a 2000 IEC Fellow Award.
IEC is sponsored by universities and engineering societies and is dedicated to continuing education for the information industry. Its fellows program was established in 1994.
Bennett has led the MSU College of Engineering since 1996. Prior to coming to Starkville, he was a faculty member and administrator at Clemson University and Virginia Tech. He previously worked for General Electric Co. and served as a consultant to a number of other companies, including IBM, Litton, and Babcock and Wilcox.
MSU is among more than 70 leading high-technology universities that currently are IEC affiliates.
