Middleton honored with faculty award
Dr. Stephen Middleton, a history professor and director of the university's African-American Studies program, was recognized with an Outstanding Faculty Award by the Black Student Alliance.
The veteran author and educator directs the program, which focuses on research, statewide community engagement and the teaching of a people's story within the larger context of American history. Middleton, a Miami University doctoral graduate, came to MSU last year from North Carolina State University.
MSU's Black Student Alliance is a nonprofit, community service organization which works in conjunction with other predominately African-American organizations to promote unity and encourage racial diversity.
