Registration under way for women's symposium
The second annual Women in Leadership Symposium is slated for Nov. 13 at the Mississippi State-Meridian Campus.
The symposium, which will raise funds for MSU-Meridian's Women in Leadership Scholarship Fund, will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Kahlmus Auditorium.
Deadline to register is Friday, Nov. 6, but participants are advised to register early to be ensured a seat.
Admission to the symposium is a donation to the Women in Leadership Scholarship Fund, a program aimed at financially assisting female students in achieving their educational goals as a means of preparing them for future leadership roles.
The luncheon's keynote speaker will be Dr. Cora Norman, educator, author and founding executive director of the Mississippi Humanities Council.
Other speakers include Beth Clay, lobbyist and founder of the Clay Firm; Meridian mayor Cheri Barry; Linda Farmer, co-founder and facilitator of CAREousel; Dr. Evadna M. Lyons, nursing educator; Doris Ann Thompson, Bogue Chitto Tribal Council representative, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians; and 10th Judicial District circuit court judge Veldore F. Young.
