Blendinger wins gold at USACK competition
Dr. Jack Blendinger, professor of educational leadership in the College of Education, played a major role in leading the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club racing team to the 2008 USA Canoe and Kayak (USACK) Olympic Sprint National Championship. Competing in kayak races at distances ranging from 500 to 5,000 meters, Blendinger, a scholar-athlete septuagenarian, won five gold medals. (Aug 25, 2008)

Two from MSU honored for unpublished paper
Drs. James Chrisman and Franz Kellermanns were winners of the 2008 Family Firm Institute best unpublished paper award for "Family firm valuation by family CEOS: The role of socioemotional value." Chrisman is professor and interim director of the Department of Management and Information Systems, while Kellermanns is an associate professor in the same department. The paper was co-authored with T. Zellweger of the University of St. Gallen and J. Chua of the University of Calgary. (Aug 22, 2008)
Free tobacco cessation program offered
Faculty, staff and students who are ready to quit tobacco use may now get some assistance through a new, free program. (Aug 20, 2008)
Faculty/staff meal plans available
Faculty and staff members who would prefer not to drive off campus for their meals may be interested in one of the special employee meal plans offered by Mississippi State Dining. (Aug 19, 2008)
In-state advances and direct deposits available
In-state travel advances are offered now through Travel Services. In addition, direct deposit of both travel advances and travel reimbursements is possible. (Aug 18, 2008)
