- Increase faculty salaries to a level that exceeds the Southern University Group (SUG) average
- Promote faculty excellence in the area of teaching and learning
- Achieve national prominence of our faculty for their research, creative activity, and engagement

Ensure High-Quality Living, Learning, and Working Environments
Goals
- Develop a comprehensive and sustainable facilities planning and management system that supports MSU as an attractive and well maintained campus
- Continue to enhance and expand the university technology infrastructure
- Enhance student housing and facilities supporting campus life
- Continually review and improve programs to promote and protect the health and safety of university students
- Develop an effective and efficient customer-focused system for providing services needed for the core university support functions
- Create an efficient pedestrian campus that emphasizes walking and biking in the central district of campus

- Ensure the academic success of student athletes
- Compete and win in every sport in which the university participates and assure compliance with NCAA and conference rules
