Registration, Withdrawal and Course Drop Information for Students Impacted by Hurricane Katrina
From the Registrar’s Office
Here's a summary of what MSU is doing to assist our students who live in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina who may need to withdraw or change their Fall 2005 registration (drop courses).
Students from areas other than those listed above may request special consideration for their withdrawal request. Please send your request to registrar@registrar.msstate.edu or call 662-325-2023. Please provide your name, NetID, and last four digits of your SSN so we may identify you in our student system.
For students with permanent residences in counties designated for Individual Assistance by FEMA (MS, LA, AL), MSU will:
- Extend enrollment to Sept. 16.
- Extend the 100% withdrawal date to Sept 9.
- Extend the 30 day drop period to November 15, the last day to withdraw for the semester.
- Create an emergency withdrawal web link in the Student Banner Information System
- Provide an alternate number to reach the MSU Registrar (662-325-2023) to request withdrawal or course drop assistance.
- Request faculty members to forgive class absences for students who return on or before Sept 12.
- Synchronize the MSU withdrawal refunds to match the federal refund percentage. MSU will attempt to provide tuition and fee refunds for students from these impacted counties and parishes that will be sufficient to cover any amount of federally required repayment of federal funds used to pay tuition and fees. In other words, we hope to minimize the financial difficulties these students may incur as a result of withdrawing from MSU.
Here's what we will do for ALL MSU students:
- Extend the last day to drop to 5 p.m. Sept 2 (Friday) - (gives two additional days).
- Extend the 30 day withdrawal refund period and each percentage refund period by two days.
