Successful Student Speaker Series continues
March 19, 2014
The third presentation for the Successful Student Speaker Series (The S4 Series) at Mississippi State University will be held on Wednesday [March 19], from 2-3:15 p.m. in Colvard Student Union's Foster Ballroom.
Mandi Stanley’s presentation to students is titled “Hair-on-Fire! Presentation Skills” Students’ Super Session.
All faculty and staff are invited to join the students for this presentation. No preregistration is necessary. MSU IDs will be required for students.
A special Professional Development Session for faculty and staff will be presented from 12:45-1:45 p.m. titled “Best Practices from the No-Panic Plan for Presenters.”
Stanley works primarily with university leaders who want to boost their professional image and with people who want to be better speakers and writers. She has traveled throughout North America entertaining and educating more than 41,000 seminar participants, totaling 4,000 platform hours. Some of her repeat clients include Rockefeller University, Johns Hopkins University, Campbell’s Soup, the U.S. Air Force, McDonald’s USA, and the National Football League.
Stanley is a summa cum laude graduate of Mississippi State with concentrations in English, communication, and management, and she served as a faculty member of the American Management Association for five years. She was in the first class of recipients of the Ottilie Schillig Leadership Scholarship, and much of what she travels and teaches collegiate leaders today stems from her four years of leadership mentoring with former MSU President Donald Zacharias. As an involved alumna, she is a past president of the Society of Distinguished Scholars and the Schillig Scholar Advisory Board.
In 2003, she was designated a CSP, Certified Speaking Professional. Fewer than nine percent of all worldwide speakers have earned this designation, and Stanley is the first Mississippian in history to receive this honor through the National Speakers Association.
The Successful Student Speaker Series is sponsored by MSU’s Learning Center. For questions, please contact Anna Dill at 662-325-2957.
