New exhibit displays Ag Communications photos
Thirty-eight photographs of life and agriculture in Mississippi form an exhibit on display through November at Mississippi State University’s Cullis Wade Depot Gallery. Most of the photos are the work of Scott Corey and Kat Lawrence, photographers for MSU’s Office of Agricultural Communications. The exhibit, Images of Mississippi, was drawn from thousands of photos Corey and Lawrence have taken in support of the mission of the MSU Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine.

Harper on tap for Thursday's Collins Speaker Series
Third District Congressman Gregg Harper visits Mississippi State on Thursday as the latest guest for the university's Morris W.H. "Bill" Collins Speaker Series. Open to all, the program featuring the second-term Republican and Jackson native will begin at 2 p.m. in Mitchell Memorial Library's John Grisham Room. In the House, Harper chairs the Committee on Ethics and Subcommittee on Elections.

University Health Services: Get the shot — not the flu
University Health Services at Mississippi State reminds students, faculty and staff to get the flu shot -- not the flu. A series of clinics offering flu shots will be offered on campus this fall, including one this Tuesday in the main lobby of Allen Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Wednesday in the McCool Hall atrium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fulbright Ambassador to visit campus Nov. 16
The International Institute at Mississippi State University will host Fulbright Ambassador Rachel Stevens for a visit on Nov. 16 from 2-3:30 p.m. in Colvard Student Union, Room 324. A professor in the art department at New Mexico State University, Stevens will provide an overview to U.S. citizen faculty and administrators holding terminal degrees who are interested in competing for a U.S. Department of State Fulbright scholarship.

Ready, set, go! Bully's 5K for United Way Tuesday
The local community is invited to help support Mississippi State University’s United Way campaign by running or walking Bully’s 5K for United Way. Race day fun begins this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. with registration at McArthur Hall on the MSU campus. The race starts at 6:30 p.m. “We have the same course as prior years, but have changed the day and time,” said race director Les Potts. “We plan on having a lot of fun with a twilight race with plenty of glow sticks and a new Halloween theme.”
HPC2 employees volunteer for Habitat project
More than 30 volunteers from the High Performance Computing Collaboratory at Mississippi State University worked for two days last month on the Maroon Edition Habitat for Humanity service project in Starkville. HPC2 hopes to make it an annual event.
Callander wins first place for his paintings
Assistant professor and foundations coordinator Neil Callander received first place for his paintings from a jury at Manifest Creative Research Gallery and Drawing Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. His award-winning paintings will appear in the International Painting Annual (INPA 2) publication, which is due out this fall.
Runnells’ work on cover of national publication
Jamie Runnells, associate professor of graphic design at Mississippi State University, was a winner in the Professional Illustration category for Issue Number 37 of Creative Quarterly: The Journal of Art and Design. The illustration was part of her series "From the Market."
