Haleigh Fason loved her part-time job as a student worker at the College of Veterinary Medicine so much, she went back to work full-time as an admissions assistant two years after she graduated with her degree in business administration. “I love meeting new people, and we get to know our students very well. Going to CVM is a dream come true for most of them, and it’s rewarding to be part of that,” she said.

After working in the Chickasaw County Extension office for several years, Susan Collins-Smith relocated to Jackson and jumped at the chance to share research-based information with a broader audience. “I work in Media Relations in the Office of Agricultural Communications, and it’s my job to promote the workshops, events, educational programs and success stories in the central and southern regions of the state,” Collins-Smith said. “I enjoy the variety in my work -- I write stories about everything from pets and livestock to family finances to insect pests. Every time I write a feature story, I learn something new.”

Register now for new faculty orientation, reception
New faculty to Mississippi State University are encouraged to sign up for new faculty orientation, which will be held Aug. 13 at the Hunter Henry Center. Individual faculty members need to register online for this event, and for the reception at the MSU President's Home on Aug. 12. The registration deadline is Monday [Aug. 5].
Ticket sales for Lyceum Series events underway
Advance tickets now are available for Mississippi State's 2013-14 Lyceum Series. With the university's longest running entertainment program set to get under way in mid-September, admissions may be purchased for all six, or individually selected, performances. Gretchen Parlato, an award-winning jazz vocalist soon to join the faculty at New York's Manhattan School of Music, will inaugurate the season Sept. 19. As with all but the final Lyceum event this year, her performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium.

The MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian is again bringing the best in music and theater to the stage with a 2013–2014 Fall/Winter Performing Arts Series that has an “adventurous variety” of musicians, actors and family-friendly shows. Season tickets sold out; 3-game package on sale
For the fourth consecutive year, Mississippi State University has sold out of its season football tickets, the athletic department announced last Monday. At the close of business July 29, 43,300 season tickets for football had been sold. Less than 1,700 three-game ticket plans, which include games against Alcorn State, LSU and Kentucky and priced at $99, remain for sale through the Bryan Building Ticket Office and online.
