Nick Wilson originally joined the Public Affairs team in 2002 as a student worker performing the duties of system administrator for the department. In 2007 he rejoined the department after returning to Mississippi State to pursue his graduate degree. Since then he has coordinated the information technology needs for the department, providing day to day IT support, assisted in creating and updating web content, and helped to develop and expand the institutions reach through social media. Since 2012 he has also coordinated the IT needs for the Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development at Mississippi State University and run their large format and production digital press operations.
After graduating from Mississippi State in 2004, Nick worked for the Mississippi Municipal League. There he represented the interests of Mississippi's cities and towns in the legislature and committees and provided research and technical assistance to local governments. He also developed and coordinated outreach efforts for cities and towns affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Nick is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Administration with focuses in intergovernmental relations, emergency management, and communications studies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Masters of Public Policy and Administration from Mississippi State. He is a member of the American Society for Public Administration and Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society. In his spare time you can find Nick either playing the ukulele or volunteering his time with various local community organizations.
Nick lives in Starkville with his turtle, Old Veteran, and his adopted rescue dog, Sophie.
