The End of an Era

Mississippi State concluded its 118th baseball season this weekend as the Diamond Dogs played host to the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, the defending Southeastern Conference Western Division champion.

The series also brought an end to the remarkable coaching career of head coach Ron Polk, who earlier announced that his 29th season at MSU would be his last. Polk has led State to 20 NCAA regional tournament berths and six trips to the NCAA College World Series, and has compiled 1,371 career coaching wins—the seventh highest among NCAA Division I baseball leaders.
