Sunrise 5K Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention Awareness

About this event

Mississippi State's Department of Psychology, Department of Health Promotion and Wellness, Student Counseling Services and Department of Housing and Residence Life are sponsoring a 5K run/walk to promote suicide prevention. All members of the campus and local communities are welcome to participate/attend. Participants will meet at the Ruby Hall courtyard at 8:30 a.m., where they will first hear from Kim Kavalsky, mental health outreach coordinator for Mississippi State's Department of Health Promotion and Wellness. Following Kavalsky's remarks, the event will relocate to Chadwick Lake, where the 5K race will take place. Race winners will receive free prizes. Refreshments will be served after the race is complete. Attendees will have the opportunity to make their own stress ball, as well as participate in face painting, corn hole and other fun activities. Suicide prevention information and brochures will be available. Free T-shirts will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Click the "Link" below to sign up and reserve your shirt today. The Mississippi State University Student Counseling Services are available to support any students who need assistance. The center is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., for walk-in appointments and counselors are on call 24 hours a day. Services can be accessed by calling 662-325-2091.
