About this event

Mississippi State's Department of History is hosting the 49th annual meeting of Cheiron, the International Society for the History of the Behavioral and Social Sciences. Taking place June 22-25, this international conference will feature the work of 40 researchers from the United States, Spain, Switzerland, Brazil and Canada. The highlight of the conference is the Elizabeth Scarborough Lecture, a keynote given in honor of Cheiron founding member Elizabeth Scarborough. This year, the Scarborough lecturer is Katherine Crawford, Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Women's and Gender Studies and History at Vanderbilt University. Titled “Toward an Ethics of Sexual Citizenship,” her talk is open to Mississippi State students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the local community. While the lecture is free and open to the public, those interested in attending other events at the conference should contact Courtney Thompson at cthompson@history.msstate.edu.
